The Proximity Hotel – Greensboro, NC

The Proximity Hotel is nothing less than an amazing place to stay! It’s where I stayed during my recent trip to the place I call home, Greensboro, NC.

This was my first time staying in a hotel when going home, but circumstances made it a necessity, but I must say… the Proximity Hotel certainly didn’t feel like your average hotel. Why? Well, simply put, it’s not average. In fact, it was the first LEED Platinum certified (green) hotel in the United States. In short, that means they are very green and do all kinds of really cool stuff that’s earth friendly.

Now for some photos.

The entry as your first arrive to the Proximity Hotel.

The lobby.

Take note of the desk. It’s floating. Sort of.

Seating space on the floor below the lobby.

Beautiful things galore.

A welcome note is certainly appreciated.

The Proximity’s has one thing that, for a moment, reminded me of New York City: floor to ceiling windows.

And, of course you’d qualify a hotel room by the status of it’s bathroom. No disappointments here.

A completely random shot of one of the two sinks in the bathroom. :)

Business center with free computer access. I flat out avoid hotels that charge for Internet… because it’s a dumb charge.

Take a moment to appreciate this. Read the sign on the front of the door. There’s literally a box on top of drink stand where you put money. You have to love that.

Yes, there was of course a workout room.

And a pool.

They also have old school taxis to help guests get around. Please take note of the friendly sign on top of the car.

If you ever find yourself in Greensboro, NC, I highly recommend the Proximity Hotel. It’s a stylish, clean place to stay that I think you’d enjoy.

Not seen in this post the hotels restaurant… which may possibly feature one of the best hamburgers I’ve ever had. Ever. They also have more elaborate things on the menu… I just so happen to appreciate the simple things.

Feel free to browse some additional photos below.

Note: the hotel hooked me up with special rate during the stay. That rate didn’t come with any promises to say nice things or any of that jazz. The Proximity Hotel is actually a place my friends and I would grab dinner when I lived in NC, so staying there and writing this review was 100% natural.

I love everything about it, and while I have no problem with the retro cabs (love em!), I wonder if that choice offsets the carbon footprint improvements made by the LEED/Green implementation. Great place, nice photos Ryan!

You know, I should have asked it the car was somehow converted. If not, that may be the only detail they remotely missed.

It’s always a toss up: positive for reusing a car that could have been scrapped, negative because it’s not gas efficient. Tough to say, I remember reading that the environmental impact of a hybrid was wiped out once you factor in the battery disposal anyway. You have me wanting to figure out a reason to go to Greensboro!

Quaintance-Weaver really does hospitality well. All of their entities are first rate. I love both restaurants (GVG and L32) but I always really love the menus at Lucky 32. It’s probably my favorite restaurant in Greensboro and I usually try to get there when I’m back in town. Nice pictures!
