The High-Low Skirt

Have you jumped on the high-low trend yet in an effort to wear a skirt while the weather is warming up?

If so, I bet you have at least one black skirt or dress that fits the category and that doesn’t really feel like spring. Am I right?

A couple nights ago I was heading out for drinks with friends and since the weather wasn’t looking good I decided to pull out my black number: with flat ankle booties, a burgundy tank and my inseparable leather jacket, and was able to sport the skirt without tights and make it a transition look!

What’s amazing is that you can pair these ‘mullet’ bottoms with every kind of colored top, they look great with plain tanks, graphic tee shirts (tucked in), flowered blouses and even your bf’s white or light blue crisp shirt – this last one does wonders as a layer when worn over a high-low dress, with a skinny belt on the waist.

Then add a pop of personality with your favorite accessories and that’s it, go out and feel great.

BE AWARE, there is only one fashion police mistake you can commit: wearing a top that is the same fabric as the dress or skirt. A definite do not do!

And when spring will eventually settle, let your mullet skirts and dresses blossom and pick the flower patterned versions that are invading the shops!

The photo above features one of the many skirts I tried on before buying the right one – this is from Elsie Belle, a fantastic brand sold in TopShop.
