I found this product a few years back after seeing it in a fashion mag review section and loved, loved, loved it. And what's not to love about the promise in the product name (This Works: Perfect Clevage)?
It is a beautifully light and concentrated decolletage cream that you massage in to your neck and chest area morning and night; the dual application recommendation is not something you'll mind once you try it – it is lovely to apply and the smell is absolutely divine, and leaves a light scent on your skin all day. Perfect Cleavage is loaded with essential oils including pomegranate, rose, patchouli, tonka bean, frankincense, vanilla bean and organic orange – this may sound like odor overload but the way the scents work together is delicious.
But enough gushing about how it smells – it's about whether it works right? Well firstly, you only need a couple of squirts for each application which means the bottle lasts a long time. It's also not greasy at all and soaks straight in, getting to work on your skin. It's strange to find a product that promises seemingly opposite benefits of plumping AND toning, and tightening AND softening, but I feel it really does do all of these things. It also has a very faint shimmer factor, not a tacky, glitter layer, more of a brightening effect.
I don't want to over-promise its performance though; Perfect Cleavage is not a miracle surgery alternative to max you up to a C from a B, and it isn't going to save you from the clutches of gravity, but it is a nice, indulgent way to take care of your decolletage and make the best of the skin you have.
I was talking with a friend on Friday about how the skin on a person's neck can really show their age which inspired me to share the product I adore and give Fashables readers a different option to try out.
This Works also don't use parabens, synthetic fragrances, mineral oils or SLS – for anyone not in the know, SLS is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, a caustic detergent for removing grease that is commonly used as a foaming agent in cosmetics/shampoo/soap – it's bad stuff. Add this to the fact that they don't use animal testing and it makes me feel pretty sound about purchasing their products.
I had added it to the “things I can only get in Australia” list, until I stumbled across it in Duane Reade a couple of weeks ago. The corporate website only looks like it ships to the UK, however a quick search just then located This Works products on Amazon for $59 which was about the same price I paid for it ($25 cheaper than what you pay in Australia BTW), but if you want to try-before-you-buy, head to Duane Reade – only the bigger ones with large cosmetic sections seem to stock it.
