Peeps from the Streets is Fashables street style post that’s published every Wednesday and Friday. The shots aren’t taken by a pro and are mostly done on the fly while out and about in NYC.

I went for a walk last Sunday afternoon after hurricane Irene blew through New York City. The streets were remotely vacant and the city felt odd. And while the city may have been limping along after the storm… that certainly doesn’t mean it’s style went away.

You’ll notice a rain-boot theme in today’s post, and I can’t quite understand why someone would have abandoned this perfectly good pair of boots.

The best pair of rain-boots are the ones that don’t look like rain-boots. I’d say these are in that category.

These little scooters always make me laugh.

Tape on the windows behind the guy is to prevent the glass from shattering.

Seriously. It doesn’t get much cuter than this.

Notice how empty the streets are.

High waisted denim. I believe this shot was taken at Prince and Broadway in SoHo. I see four people, and two vehicles… this location on a Sunday afternoon is typically packed.

I love how she’s fiercely riding her bike, wearing rain-boots, nearly runs the guy over, yet they both are just doing their thing. This may be my favorite female on a bike shot yet.

Another interpretation of hurricane outfits.

Cute shorts.

This shot pretty much sums up New York City last Sunday – almost everything was closed.
