I’ve been on the hunt for a heavy jacket for a bit now, and have been pretty unsuccessful thus far. Coats are either fashion friendly and not warm, or aren’t fashion friendly and warm. There was a Burberry coat that almost saved the day, but it was a bit bulky and made me feel like Diddy when I had it on. Not exactly my flavor.
Saks was having a great sale the weekend before Christmas and a massive amount of stuff in the store was 40% off. That being said I stopped by to see if luck would go my way and allow me to find “the coat.” There was a Ralph Lauren coat I’d been looking at online, but when I got to the store a clerk showed me a coat she “highly recommends.”
At first glance I was impressed and after putting it on I thought to myself, “This is great!” It’s not overly bulky, it’s warm and it’s stylish. The fur trim around the collar is a great touch and it seems to have pockets in all the right places – from a NYC lifestyle perspective, pockets are important because it seems you always need to put something somewhere.
Unfortunatley the coat isn’t available online, so you’ll have to visit a Ralph Lauren store, or a department store that carries the brand. There’s a coat that looks very similar on the brands website, but I think it’s around $1,100 (on sale as of this writing for $899).
