Street Style Fashion: Unexpected Overalls

woman on bike soho

Today’s street style fashion post is a bit refreshing.

Why?

Because it was mildly warm while I was out shooting, AND the sun was out. Win/win.

There’s some great looks below, and I hope you see something that inspires your style.

Street Style Fashion: Bikes, Hats… and Good Old Style

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post!

I know it’s been a bit slow on the blog lately, but that’s sort of on purpose. The winter really beat me down this year, and I’m done with cold weather, and the fashion that comes with it. As temperatures warm up in the city I’ll be hitting the streets on a more regular basis to bring you tons of great fashion. Because this has always been fun for me… and when it stops being fun, well, you know how that goes.

Street Style Fashion: Fashion, Vespas and a Ferrari

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post.

You never know what you’ll see when walking around New York City. Sometimes it’s great fashion. Sometimes it’s an insanely expensive car. And other times you’ll see something that, for some reason, makes you stop and appreciate the moment. You’ll see examples of all three in today’s post.

Street Style Fashion: Spotting Style

womens spring fashion

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post!

We’re still dealing with up and down temperatures in the city, and you’ll see that reflected in the layering most folks are doing. You’ll also notice that color is being brought back, and that’s a great thing.

Street Style Fashion: Seeing Shades

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post!

There’s plenty of warm weather fashion to come, but there’s one thing that’s already standing out to me. And that’s sunglasses. I’m guessing that the reason is because it’s not quite warm enough – back in the 50′s later this week – for people to go full throttle with their fashion creativity just yet, so they are having fun with shades.

Street Style Fashion: Finally Spring!

FE7A0711

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post!

The temperatures are on the rise in New York City! In fact, tomorrow, it’s supposed to be in the mid-70′s. Woot!

I’m not sure what it was about the winter, but it seemed to kick my butt more than the previous two I’ve experienced in the city. A lack of time outdoors really does take a toll on your body and mind!

Temperatures were relatively mild over the weekend so you’ll see that some folks are still bundled up, but others were certainly testing the temps.

Let’s Talk Chandeliers and Media Consoles

-3

My guess is that most people that enjoy fashion also enjoy design, so hopefully today’s post is relevant to you.

We moved to a new apartment a couple weeks ago and are still putting the finishing touches on it and there’s two things I’d love your feedback on today: a chandelier and a media console.

Street Style Fashion: The Chill Continues

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post!

While it might officially be spring, it certainly doesn’t feel like it in New York City. As you’ll see in today’s post people are still bundled up and fighting the cold. But, there’s an end in site. And when that happens the fashion page will turn and some amazing things will happen in the city.

Loving the Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+

-1

I’m starting to develop a small shoe addiction. And I’m mixing shoes with outfits that I wouldn’t normally wear them with. I used to hate wearing tennis shoes (Note: I call all active shoes tennis shoes.) with anything but active wear, but for one reason or another I’ve evolved on that principle.

The Nike Free has been a very popular shoe for the last few years, primarily due to comfort and color options, but today I have to introduce you to the Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+. They are flat out awesome! Take a look below.

Street Style Fashion: SXSW in Austin, TX

FE7A0394

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post… from Austin, Texas!

I’m in town for SXSW and couldn’t help but snap some fashion related photos while also taking in the conference. The fashion scene isn’t booming, but every now and then I’ll spot someone that makes me do a quick draw quickly get my camera set for a shot.

On a random side note, I attended a session yesterday with Nina Garcia where she basically said fashion bloggers aren’t capable of solving fashion “problems” for people. And she’s full of crap. Think about her outfits versus the average consumer. And ask yourself who you can relate more with, Joe Fashionblogger or Nina Garcia, a privileged magazine editor. Her statement didn’t fire me up at all… :)

Street Style Fashion: Hello Monday

Welcome to today’s street style fashion post!

There’s one shot in today’s post that I am somewhat mesmerized by and could look at time and time again. It’s just fascinating.

I’ve also mixed in a couple Instagram photos – follow Fashables on Instagram here – and I think I’ll start doing that more often since I don’t always have my SLR with me.

Enjoy the shots!

The Best Decisions are not Always the Easiest

photo

This isn’t an easy blog post to write, and it has nothing to do with fashion, but if I don’t write it I think it’s going to weigh on me. So here we go.

My fiancee and I drove to Rochester, NY early Saturday morning to give our dog Coco away. And every aspect of it was heartbreaking.

It’s not something we wanted to do, not by a long shot, but we are both very busy people and the more we talked about it, the more we felt like it was not fair to keep her here in the city. In no way was the decision based on convenience, it was more about the reality of how much this city can stretch a person and how often we are not home.
