One Amazing Engagement Gift

If you aren’t yet aware, I’m getting married.

And the wedding date is 10-12-13. Should be easy enough to remember over the years, right?

This is actually my first full post about the wedding, or any happenings around it, on Fashables, but I thought it might be fun to hear a guys view of the process.

So, for today, I’d like to share my favorite engagement gift to date. That’s certainly not to say that all gifts weren’t appreciated, but this one, it was just fantastic.

The gift in question was a large framed version of what you see below. If you happen to be geographically challenged – no shame – the state on the top is New York, and the one on the bottom is North Carolina. The hearts represent where my fiancee is from in New York, and where I’m from in North Carolina.

11 It’s awesome, right?

If you aren’t getting the warm and fuzzy, let me add a little commentary.

Those two states, they happen to be pretty far apart and there’s tons of people in between, which makes it pretty amazing that we happened to find each other in New York City. [Insert warm and fuzzy feeling]

To be quite frank, I don’t know how you could top this as an engagement gift. Sure there’s money and trips and all that hoo ha, but this is something that hangs on your wall and reminds you just how lucky you are. And that’s awesome.

    Congratulations!

Just a comment – your blog could use a solid copy editor if you’d like to take it to the next level. Many of the posts contain grammatical errors. Precision is huge in any piece of media. No one is perfect, but a guru like you should know better :)

Shannon, I certainly appreciate your note. But let me frame something for you. I have a day job. In addition I run four websites, multiple social media accounts, and a couple businesses. Errors stink, but some posts on Fashables are generated faster than others. If you’d like to copy edit for me at 5 am… thanks for volunteering. :)

i agree with shannon. ryan- i can volunteer to copy-edit for you. it’s really just weeding out the typos (e.g., “cometary”) that one tends to miss at 5 in the morning. :)

Thanks Sonny. Just let me know what email address I can email you at right at 5 am so you can proof and send back to me by 5:10 am.

          Tough crowd.

pls don’t misunderstand- constructive feedback was my only intent. that, and to help.

Great gift! I saw this idea for a crafty mug project my girlfriend found recently. http://www.snhblog.com/2012/12/saw-it-pinned-it-did-it-this-mug-is.html
I’m from Rochester and going to a wedding in Wilmington this spring for a friend from back home. This might be a great gift idea for them… Also not sure how often you and the lady head upstate, but I love visiting in the summertime!
