Two Great Finds at Dado in Rochester

Gypsy 05 - Fashables

While in Rochester over the weekend I stopped by Dado — a women’s clothing store that seemed to have some great items in stock.

In particular, there’s a pair of harem pants and a dress that immediately stood out and that’s what I’ll share with you in this post.

Skirt of the Season

-3

As the summer heat continues to beat down, we look for options that let us show a little (or a lot) of leg to stay cool but look on-trend. My favorite look of the season skirt wise is the high waist circle skirt. I love that the skirt can be worn professionally with a button-up tucked in or it can be dressed to play and paired with a crop top!

Bargain Bikinis

-1

I never would of dreamed that I would be photographing myself in a dressing room trying on a bikini, however…

I recently found myself in the Victoria’s Secret dressing room at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA and it was a totally different scene. The lighting was dim, perfect for bathing suit shopping and there were so many bikini tops and bottoms to choose from. Something for everyone and every body type. I am a small busted girl and often find it challenging to find a bikini top that’s not overly padded but not totally flattening.

Rock the Music Festival

-3

Music festivals are one of my favorite things. They are an all inclusive serotonin tsunami filled with bands and DJ’s, laughter, friends, dancing, sunshine, beer, food and mega creative fashion. It’s your pass to wear anything that makes your heart sing.

This weekend I went to two festivals – Electric Daisy Carnival on Saturday and Googa Mooga on Sunday. They both rocked!!

Below are some photos of what I chose to wear over the weekend.

The Ultimate Economy Swimsuit

-1

As I did my usual walk through SoHo and I passed by H&M my eyes lingered for a minute. There was that bright pink swimsuit I had seen in the new ads displayed in the window. After a few more steps I turned around and entered the store. The bright color that is so on trend right now was too hot not to stop for.

I walked in hoping that they actually had sizes left and was pleasantly surprised by one of the cheapest price tags I have ever seen. Yes, even for H&M. Each piece read $4.95, yep a swimsuit for $9.90!

Urban Summer

-11

Ok girls, I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried on the cheeky’s, aka booty shorts!

It seems this summer is all about skin. With belly exposing blouses, bandeau’s are now acceptable as a top, and the shorts are borderline underwear.

One thing to keep in mind about this seasons trend is just because it’s a fashion trend does not mean you should wear it! I’m a fairly fit woman of about 5’4″, 118 pounds and I’m telling you I wouldn’t be caught dead in some of these shorts. I almost felt depressed after some of the stores I visited – either because they failed to put up the skinny mirror or just because I really do hate my thighs.

7FAM Fabulosity

IMG_3657

Last week I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to a 7 For All Mankind sale.

I initially thought I would just go there to check out some jeans for a couple of female friends because I had recently purchased 2 pairs of jeans, bummer!

As I walked in I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be picking anything up for myself: WRONG!

Women’s Fashion: Mixing and Matching to Create Six Great Looks

-5

I have always thought of The Gap as a great place to get basics like t-shirts and tanks tops (which is what I popped in for recently). I was pleasantly surprised to find other interesting pieces in fun, bold colors that are great for summer. They also had a nice selection of shoes, bags and accessories to really complete an outfit. Here are some of my faves:

I love this little white dress! It has pockets, beautiful embroidered detailing and is relaxed and comfortable. Perfect for summer!

Women’s Fashion: Eloisa Vintage Designer Shoe Collection

-7

When my hairstylist sent me an invitation to a vintage, designer shoe party I couldn’t resist. I mean my first word was shoe! Needless to say I was pretty excited about the fabulous pairs I would score!

The event was held in Soho at Ivana Helsinki Store on Elizabeth St. I walked in wearing my vintage ’89 Rolling Stones shirt, spike studded heels and black cut offs, with a black and white blazer. I was ready to try on every shoe there and hoping to leave wearing some fabulous vintage cuties with rhinestones and beads.

Two Great Sale finds at The Loft

-2

The Spring collection at Loft this year seems to definitely be echoing that of last year. Bold colors, sometimes paired with thick stripes.

As I walked into the store my eyes were drawn to an outfit that was semi sailorish as well as perfect for a 4th of July celebration.

A pair of bold and bright wide leg red trousers complete with big gold buttons. The style is wide legged and would go great with a chunky wedge. Next I grabbed a blue and white striped knit top, thin and light with a nice feel.
