SuitSupply Review

suit supply fashables review

I’ve known about SuitSupply – the place to get designer quality suits for less – but had not paid them a visit until recently and thought it was time to do a review on the experience and product.

I stopped by the SoHo SuitSupply location and was instantly greeted by one of the stores very helpful clerks. And as an FYI – I approached the situation from the standpoint of a guy that didn’t know much about suits, and was fully educated and never treated like I was “less” of a customer.

What’s so Great about Seersucker?

FE7A4523

If you aren’t aware, I believe it’s OK for men to wear shorts.

With that said, I also feel they should be properly styled and should most certain – at this day and age – not go below your knees. If I had to guess, the average guys short collection is made up of a khaki, a navy and some sort of cargo short (not a fan). Those, except for the cargo shorts, are fine options, but there’s one great option that needs to be added to the mix – the Seersucker short.

Men Should Not Wear Shorts

-1

I was sitting on my roof deck last Sunday reading The New York Times and after anticipatory reading, I finally made it to the Style section.

When I pulled it (the Style section) out and unfolded it I couldn’t help but simultaneously laugh and think, “You have to be kidding me.” Why? Because of an article titled, “Shorts Have Men Showing a Little Leg.”

Men’s Fashion: Two Summer Favorites

mens fashion blog fashables 8-9a

While taking a glance in my closet yesterday I realized there are two clothing items that I could easily put atop a “favorites” list at the moment.

Each item has it’s own element of style, and most importantly, each is comfortable and can easily be dressed up or down.

One of My New Favorite Pair of Shoes

photo[1]

Without a doubt, the Cole Haan Air Monroe Penny is one of my new favorite pair of shoes.

I stopped by the Columbus Circle Cole Haan a week ago and that’s when I first saw this pair of penny loafers. I didn’t buy them during that visit, but after several days of consideration (do I really need another pair of shoes?) I opted to give them a go. And am so glad I did!

Nothing fancy in terms of photography here, these two shots were taken with my iPhone while I was in the back of a cab. Keeping it classy.

Cole Haan Lunargrand (A Shoe for Every Guy)

Screen Shot 2012-07-27 at 8.47.35 AM

I’m convinced that the Cole Haan Lunargrand is a shoe that every guy can pull off. Not just some guys. Every guy.

What it has going for it is that it’s a mix of dress and casual, it has a touch of playful color… and is insanely comfortable. The shoe comes in a base color (11 options), but then it also has a colorful sole that is one of the elements that make the Cole Haan Lunargrand so fantastic.

When Your Bathing Suit isn’t Short Enough…

FE7A3190

Women have a gazillion bathing suit options, but for some reason I always feel like guys get shorted in this department, especially when you are looking for a suit that’s on the shorter side.

And no, I’m not talking Magnum P.I. kind of short. I like to have fun with the length because it feels better when you get out of the water, and let’s not lie… it turns heads.

The other disclaimer of this little story is that there’s not a chance in the world that I’m going to pay $100+ for a bathing suit, and that’s the price point of many of the shorter options I find. That’s just crazy.

Men’s Fashion: A Touch of Ben Sherman Hipster

FE7A0676

In the world of men’s fashion, short sleeve button downs are something that can be relatively hard to come by.

Yes, they exist, but options tend to be remotely limited. I’m on a mission to find some nice ones though because wearing t-shirts and polo’s all summer just doesn’t excite me very much.

One brand that I tend to have luck with in terms of sizing and style is Ben Sherman, which is where this Plectrum Kinsington Collar Shirt is from.

Denim Therapy Review: They Saved Me $200

IA0A2713

I don’t know about you, but for me, jeans are somewhat of an investment and that’s why I’m doing this Denim Therapy Review.

I recently noticed that one of my favorite pair was at the beginning stages of facing a “blowout.” As in, holes were forming in the crotch. Previously this caused me to, painfully, trash two pairs of jeans. It was like balling up $400 and tossing it in the trash. But not this time.

A Great Pair of Summer Wingtips

FE7A0339

Wingtips are something I’ve really enjoyed wearing for a while now, and one of my new favorite pair is the Johnston & Murphy McPherson’s.

Surprising as it may be, I’ve never actually owned a pair of shoes from the brand, but when I saw these I walked in the store and instantly liked them a lot.

These Should Be Your Next Pair of Sunglasses

Ray-Ban Club Master Fashables

The Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses are a great example of “what’s old is new.”

In fact, here’s what the Ray-Ban website says about the Clubmaster,

“They were the sunglasses of choice of counter-culture intellectuals and civil rights leaders. Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses are ideal for the generation that grew up with its classic curved lines as well as young whipper snappers who are discovering the iconic shape for the first time.”

Men’s Fashion: Get the Trend: Destroyed Denim is Back

IA0A2528

An intervention might be needed in the near future.

Why?

Because I think I’ve become addicted consumed obsessed way too interested in finding great men’s jeans and shoes.

In regards to jeans, I’m keeping an eye out for soft denim that can be worn a lot and take the beating of the amount of walking done in the city. But since I didn’t find THAT pair over the weekend, I wanted to share this great pair of AG jeans (The Protege – 15 years destroyed) with you.
