I went to my first one last weekend and it was a pretty amazing experience. The first event was a boat cruise for a [insert sarcasm] small crowd – 300 or so – on a huge boat around Manhattan. I didn’t have my SLR on me, so photos from that were limited to iPhone snaps, but we did get an amazing sunset view of the World Trade Center, and we were up-close and personal with this little statue.
But let’s get to the main event – the ceremony on Saturday.
When my hairstylist sent me an invitation to a vintage, designer shoe party I couldn’t resist. I mean my first word was shoe! Needless to say I was pretty excited about the fabulous pairs I would score!
The event was held in Soho at Ivana Helsinki Store on Elizabeth St. I walked in wearing my vintage ’89 Rolling Stones shirt, spike studded heels and black cut offs, with a black and white blazer. I was ready to try on every shoe there and hoping to leave wearing some fabulous vintage cuties with rhinestones and beads.
7 for All Mankind held there Fall preview show yesterday and I thought it might be fun to take you behind the scenes.
Now, the goal of Fashables isn’t to highlight a ton of fashion shows or share clothing you can’t by for a gazillion years, but these items will be out before you know it.
Basically, when you arrive to these types of events, there’s typically a bunch of models standing around wearing various clothing items. It can almost be intimidating at first because there’s a bunch of really beautiful people looking at you with their “model” face. My goal? Try to make them laugh. 🙂
Blogger Night Out took place last Friday night in New York City and the event seemed to be a great success for the organizers – fellow fashion bloggers.
The event takes place during Fashion Week and is a great chance for fashion bloggers to get together, socialize and do a little networking along the way.
And as you might imagine, there’s a ton of great fashion to see at an event like this. Some of the arrival shots can be seen in this previous post, but you’ll find candid shots in this post.
I had planned on attending Bloggers Night Out last night, but didn’t on being the photographer for the event.
Needless to say something came up with the photographer the organizers had hired, and I was happy to help out and take some snaps. Fashion bloggers helping fashion bloggers – never a bad thing.
There are a lot of shots to share, but I’ll limit this post to some of the arrival shots. If you see yourself, feel free to use the photo, but do me a favor and link back to Fashables for photo credit.
Yesterdays “Arm Candy” post hinted at Bloggers Night Out, but I thought I’d take you inside the event and show off a bit more of the style seen throughout the night.
And style is one thing that definitely wasn’t lacking.
Last weekend I ventured downtown to 350 West Broadway (at Grand Street) to check out Nordstrom’s first stab at a New York City store – Treasure & Bond. The bright, two-floored store has the feel of an airy city loft, complete with exposed pipes, large windows and muted coloring. The store is Nordstrom’s way of dipping its toe in the water to experience NYC retail operations– I know, it’s hard to believe they don’t have a store in NYC (I wish!).
The unique approach here – Treasure & Bond donates 100 percent of proceeds to NYC charities. Purchases will go toward two different charities per quarter.
Accessories, home goods and scents are downstairs. Scattered tables display vintage frames, funky jewelry (some looked like familiar street finds), simple leather belts, scarves, gloves (ahh Fall is upon us), hats and clutches. Rows of candles and perfumes fill the back right corner of the space, while books and desk accessories lead you toward the staircase on the front right. There is also a space that looks like a backyard fort, which will soon be home to Stumptown Coffee/Balthazar Bakery.
Upstairs, natural-colored clothing dominates the floor. James Perse, Vince, Rogan, Sibling, Max & Moi, Injiri and the like line the walls. I saw a lot of sweaters, relaxed-fit tops and dark-colored pants. There was a small men’s section, a small bathroom-goods section and a baby/kids section.
The doors opened Friday, August 19th – so if you’re in the city, go check it out before all your friends! Stop by and let us know what you think! Visit: www.treasureandbond.com.

I went down to Lakeland, Florida (in between Tampa & Orlando) last Thursday to visit with my mom and to see her new home (moved from NC in Feb). On Friday evening we went to the little downtown area for an event called First Friday.
I’m a huge fan of downtown areas in smaller communities, and my hometown of Greensboro, NC also has a monthly First Friday event during the warmer months. I thought I’d share a few photos of the event and highlight a little fashion along the way.
Oh, and one more thing. Most of the Fashables contributors live in NYC, or other large cities with access to tons of stores, so it’s fun to share some “local” fashion with you.
First Friday had bands, street vendors, tons of stores were open… and it was an all around fun event.
The entrance to Black Swan Bazaar, a fun little shop with a little of this and a little of that.
Inside Black Swan.
I really have no clue why I took a picture of this.
Colorful natural soap anyone?
I could easily see a number of my female friends seeing this vintage dress, and pearls, and trying it on immediately.
Here’s some jewelry made by Flea Chic Fab. She has an Etsy page if you’re interested in buying some of her creations.
This photo means absolutely nothing to most anyone that hasn’t lived in NC. Cheerwine is made in NC and typically not sold outside of the state. When I saw it inside The General Store I had to immediately pick up a bottle and make the purchase.

Diesel is widely known for creating awesome jeans and a broad range of other fun clothing styles. In addition they also have a popular shoe, sunglasses and watch line that I’m sure you’ve also heard about or seen.
They held an event last night to celebrate the launch of the Diesel Thermal Attraction; a heat-sensitive digital watch that’s pretty darn cool.
Fellow fashion blogger Jonathan Valdez chatting with a friend at the event.
And when they say heat-sensitive they mean it. The bands on the Diesel Thermal Attraction watches literally change color as your body temperature changes.
This is where the aura action went down.
To stay true to the Thermal Attraction theme, they had an aura reader at the event that took a photo of your aura and then explained what all the snazzy colors meant.
From what I remember the nice little lady said I had nice colors, have had a good week, am feeling the love (white dot in the lower left-hand corner) and have been a bit stressed (darker colors to the middle left). She also said that I’d be able to relax a bit more next week… but I can’t remember what color signified that.
Anyway, back to the Thermal Attraction watches. They live up to the Diesel style that you’d expect and have a fun look to them. The mix of materials provides a nice hard/soft mix and opens the door for a little flexibility when wearing the watch with different outfits.
I don’t think you can buy them online just yet, but feel free to click here to learn a little more about the specs.
Additional photos from the event can be seen below – browse away if you’d like.

The Stella McCartney boutique opened at Saks flagship store last night and they had a celebration to kick things off.
The collection on display had a nice variety, and it’s great to see what she’s done with the dressier part of the line. Everything in the photos below is nice, but there are a few items that made me stop and say, “that’s beautiful.”
These types of events are still a bit new to me, and I have to say… there are some absolutely gorgeous people in New York City.
Now for some photos from the evening. Note: everyone pointed out is wearing Stella McCartney.
The lady of the evening, Stella McCartney (in the center).
This dress was simply stunning. Words can’t properly describe it, so take a moment and take in the photo.
I saw this girl (wearing Stella) and said, “Who are you and why are you eating cotton candy?” As it turns out she works for the brand and was eating cotton candy because she wanted too. The dress she’s wearing worked really well – check the pleats towards the bottom. She looked great.
I really liked how this dress was form fitting and mixed things up with texture up top; the shoulder exposure is also a nice touch. While taking this picture I thought to myself, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone this pretty in person.” Consider that my Southern coming out.
Another Stella McCartney staffer wearing the brand well. It was hard to tell who was who (model, staff, attendee) at the event, but after seeing this girl a couple times I had to stop her and get a photo. She pulled this romper off really well and looked stunning.
I’m sounding like a broken record, but again… this is stunning. Look at the detail in the chest area – it’s a very nice touch and something that Stella seems to incorporate in a lot of the pieces.
Hello Liv Tyler, it’s nice to see you.
A-ma-zing.
Those are just some of the photos taken at the Stella McCartney Saks boutique opening, but there are plenty more below that feature some of the line. Enjoy.
